The city’s repair list
Another company inspected the sprinkler system at one building of a Dallas apartment community in January. A month later, Dallas Fire-Rescue sent the property an order to comply that listed:
- 81 pressure gauges to replace
- three brass 2.5-inch hose caps
- three 2.5-pound ABC extinguishers
- one painted sprinkler
The property hired us to make the repairs.
Repairs
Many of the gauges were on the floor control assemblies in the stairwells, on all three floors. Four were on the sprinkler riser. NFPA 25 calls for gauges to be replaced, or tested against a calibrated gauge, every five years.
We replaced all 81. We also put new brass caps on the stairwell hose valves, swapped the three extinguishers and replaced the painted sprinkler.
The report
Dallas Fire-Rescue takes corrections through The Compliance Engine. We submitted the repair report there with photos of the work, and left our service tag on the riser with “Corrected at YELLOW TAG” checked.
