The freeze
Dry-pipe sprinkler systems are designed for unheated occupancies — but the drum drips, which sit at the low points to drain condensation, are the most exposed parts of the system. A hard freeze can split them, and when one goes, the system is offline.
The response
We dispatched a tech the same day. Drum drip was visibly damaged; the bypass was isolated; the failed piece came out and a new drum drip went in. System filled, air pressure restored, valves cycled, and back in service. The whole repair fit inside a normal service window — but it was emergency-priority because every hour the system was offline meant the facility was operating without fire-protection coverage.
Why facilities call us at 2 a.m.
Freeze events stack failures across a region — every fire-protection company in DFW is on the phone the morning after a deep freeze. Paragon staffs the 24-hour line specifically for these moments. The work itself isn’t exotic; the difference is being on-site that day instead of next week.
